Distribution and transcapillary exchange of albumin in congestive heart failure.

1N T GENERAL, previous investigators have concluded that the capillary permeability to proteins is either normal or increased in patients with congestive failure." I t is difficult to reconcile such results with the consistent finding of increased plasma volume in congestive heart failure. In a previous study of normal individuals, iodinated serum albumin was used to measure the transcapillary exchange rate of proteins, and in the present study this method is applied to the study of capillary permeability in patients with congestive failure.
